The Las Palmas Hotel leaps from the pages of a Raymond Chandler novel. This building, along with the Gilbert and the Mark Twain, is one of the few remaining examples of small Depression-era, inexpensive residence hotels still standing in historic Hollywood. Evoking the lure of another time, these little treasures are quickly being transformed into luxury boutiques, restaurants and hotels. In more recent times it became a location used in the hit film “pretty woman” featuring Julia Roberts.
